Turning Photography into Inventive Digital Imagery
with Steve and Kristyne McDaniel
Your digital camera isn't just a way to take a photograph. It is the beginning of an adventure with inventive digital imagery. Before you get going with the adventures of tweaking your photographs, it is to your advantage to start out with the best digital camera you can afford.
Spend some time looking at the various written materials about the different camera makes and models. Learn why you would want more megapixels, and what the various types and sizes of memory cards represent. When Steve and I first ventured into digital cameras, we found that we needed to purchase an all-in-one digital card reader to accomodate all of the memory cards that had begun breeding in our camera bags.
There are rechargable batteries, batteries you have to buy and replace, cords to dump images onto your computer, software to fix goofs in your images and remove red-eye. Whew! Who new that pointing and clicking could be so tough!
Finally, when the end of the day arrives and you're no longer an abject beginner, the time comes when you might want to consider whether you want a camera that will accept a variety of camera lenses. Inexpensive digital cameras tend to be the point-and-click variety. When you start moving into the higher end, things move just like with traditional film cameras. Then you need a box and a variety of lenses for different conditions.
You're embarking on a great new adventure. Enjoy the ride!
